So this was an epic fail. I thought of the idea for this doodle from the phrase “Froggy Came a Calling” only to find that the Elvis song is actually “Froggy Went a Courting”. I hang my head in shame…

I’m not sure if that looks like a rock or not, but that’s what I tried to draw. The cell name is an attempt at a horrible pun so I can say it’s “Rock in R077.”
Just another in the week of Elvis song title inspired doodles. These lovers are like two cards in a deck.
My third Elvis song inspired doodle is for “Teddy Bear”, which has nothing to do with the lyrics. Just wanted to draw a fuzzy little dude in a jumpsuit doing a hip thrust. I’m into my ninth bit of doodles now!!!
Update: I decided I’m been pretty lazy of late with coloring stuff and I thought it would be fun to color this one.
Another thumbnail sketch from work to figure out the composition.
Day two of the Elvis songs, this one stays a little closer to the song. I had this idea of a young dude going all Human Torch when his lady kissed him, though I don’t know how well that comes across.
This is the little thumbnail sketch I did on a sticky at work of the idea.
My wife had this great idea that I should do a week of doodles based on Elvis songs. So I wikipedia’d the subject and there are over 800 of them. When I came across the title “Apron Strings”, the image of a mother keepin’ on while her little boy was yanking on the strings popped in my head. So after doodling this up, I come to find out that “Apron Strings” is a love ballad about wanting to be tied up in your ladies apron strings. That’s not as funny so I’m glad I didn’t look that up until it was too late.
Today the boys and I went to Astro Boy after church! That movie was great; simple but great story, awesome animation, family friendly action. Go see it before it gets out of theaters!!!
I think I need to build one of these to enforce our “clean up your toys before bed rule.” Maybe there wouldn’t be as much open rebellion?
The boys and I had borrowed “My Neighbor Totoro” from my sister last week so we watched it for movie night. A very cute little story! These were just some doodles I did with the quill pen while watching.
I still had some ink left so I thought I’d run it dry, thus I give you a wheezy old feline guy, and a super messy Venom.
The boys really wanted to hit up Burger King for dinner tonight after allergy shots so I grudgingly obliged. I asked them what I should doodle today and my 9 year old said a Medieval Burger King. I inked this with the Rapidograph quill pen my dad gave me which is quick and fun to use. Just a lot of cleanup.
So I had this idea that I could pull off a doodle with only the outline of a character. While it is different to be missing all the details of the character, it really makes you question the shapes that you see. I pretty much drew it like normal, outlined it, then erased the pencils. His legs made much more sense prior to that last step.
(it’s supposed to be the Flash…)
At first I wanted to draw Sokka getting ready to wallop something with his whale bone club, but then I thought it would be funnier to draw him about to get beat-down himself. Maybe he tried to play a trick on Toph?
I also did a quick sketch of the Hulk, which started as pencils but I put some inks in because the lines were blurring too much. Probably should have just left the pencils alone.
DeviantArt is running a costume contest for their mascot fella, so this is my submission.
This was the template I started from.
This is the last of my “r” robots as I have no interest in using any of the lame r verbs left and doing “re” verbs would just be cheating.
Oh and his leg fell off, so no more fun for him.
