Farewell 2009 and the first decade of this century. You’ve been a good year!

So after I drew this, I realized that I must have some deep seeded fear of a ninja pointing two fingers at me. I’m pretty sure that my Snake Eyes doodle a while ago was in the same pose. Oh well, beware the pointing ninja!
Tonight I got out and went to see Avatar, which was an amazing movie visually and the story was good too. I wasn’t quite sure what to doodle from the movie so I thought I would try to draw one of the mountain banshees. I couldn’t find any good references so it came out pretty cutesy compared to the movie.
I finally got around to seeing District 9 on DVD since I missed it in the theaters. Overall it was a pretty good movie, but made me a little sad at the end. I imagine that people have lots of different feelings at the end of that movie, based on their own values and worldview. I did think there were a few gaping plot holes after I thought about it for a bit.
Our pastor gave an awesome sermon on what God wants for Christmas, which is laid out so simply in Micah 6:8. He doesn’t want offerings of great worth, great numbers, or great sacrifice if there’s no inner commitment behind them. What he wants from us is:
“To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”
My oldest son asked me how to draw Mickey Mouse from the Three Musketeers movie, so I showed him how to start with a frame of simple shapes and then add on details. I thought I should whip up another Mickey for today’s doodle.
What a beautiful gift that was given… Merry Christmas!
Pretty warn out today, the boys were up at 0530! We had some friends over for Christmas dinner and even went sledding for a little bit tonight. Thanks to everyone who sent gifts and well wishes.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
The boys and I went out for a little bit tonight and caught site of the Consumerism Monster. Guess we need more stuff? Who knew? Things were calm at Chik-Fil-A where we had dinner, so that was nice.
I don’t know where this one came from…
I got a request the other day when I doodled Shere Khan for something like this, so I finally got around to doing it. It gives me a day off from thinking up a doodle, and more time for sledding!
After the snow finally let up last night we had almost 2 feet on the ground to manage today. The boys and I went sledding, which wasn’t easy with that much snow. But, after a few passes, we had a pretty good little track packed down.
Whilst hanging out in the house today watching the snow blanket our neighborhood, I scanned through the tons of Christmas movies that are on this time of year. I always wondered how the old guy handled an Airstream trailer? Not my best doodle, but I’m too busy loving all this snow!!!
I thought for my doodle today I would color the extra doodle I did yesterday. I’ve been a little skimpy on computer stuff lately. Now I’m going to watch G-Force with the boys and hope for some snow tonight!!!
