The Secret of Nimh was on TV the other day so I recorded it and this morning I watched it with the boys. They both made it through the scarier parts with a little idle chatter from dad… I thought I would take a stab at drawing Jenner from the movie.

I just realized today that 9 has come out on DVD, so that baby got added to the top of my NetFlix que. I still think I’ll wait till the boys are a little older to watch it, since some of the imagery is quite frightening.
I really don’t know… I blame the funny combinations of animals in Avatar: TLA.
I haven’t drawn any robots for awhile so, I sat down and this is what happened. I kind of reminds me of Juggernaut or Z.O.G. from Astroboy. He sure is a big lug though, hence the name.
At the beginning of the month palop asked me to doodle up the ending of chicken little from the classic story book, where Foxy Loxy ends up eating the whole group of birds, except for Chicken Little, who gets away. I contemplated having one of the aliens from the Disney movie peeking out from behind the bushes, but decided not to. I probably should have put the characters in bonnets or coats or something.
My wife’s friend’s car needed new brakes so I said I would change them for her tonight. Lucky for her, the guy at the parts store gave me a crazy discount and I got everything for cost! Plus I had an excuse to get my hands dirty!
My nephew thought that the minions from Despicable me reminded him a lot of the Raving Rabbids from the Rayman games, so he asked me to draw the two fighting. I’m just glad the minions aren’t always screaming…
Today is the birthday of Alphonse Mucha, the father of Art Nouveau. A friend of mine had asked me how I would go about putting a face in a cloud using The GIMP so I thought I would combine the two in four easy steps.
Step 1: Find a cloud.
Step 2: Find a good picture (grayscale) and put it on a separate layer above the cloud.
Step 3: Frame the picture
Step 4: Set the layer to “soft light” and then mess with the opacity (this is about 70%)
Not my best work, but I think it will get him started in the right direction…
Our youngest wanted to watch Flushed Away tonight, so we borrowed it from a friend and watched it. I had completely forgotten about the hilarious slugs that are constantly singing throughout the movie.
It seems this is turning into board game week in our house. I played Battleship with my youngest tonight, which is always an adventure as he’s sometimes “confused” about whether I hit his ships or if he moved them or not.
Tonight before dinner I sat down with the boys a played a few games of chess. I think they were a little confused on some of the rules for moving the pieces, but by the time we were done I think they got them all right.
Tonight the I played a ridiculously long game of Castle Keep with the boys. Though I was continually threatened by my little tyrants that my destruction was near, it sure was a long time coming.
I woke up this morning to a completely unresponsive laptop (my wife calls it my mistress). I tried everything I can think of, but it seems that the motherboard is completely dead. sob…
Just a little satire from the mouth of Steve Jobs. I’ll never understand why people are so smitten with Apple products?
