This image seemed funny, then the post title seemed ironically fitting. Now if only it didn’t seem really snarky and unthankful at the same time. I’m a very thankful person, for my amazing family, our blessings, our health, and just being alive and kicking. But I’m not sitting in for no jive turkey…

We’re back home in beautiful (cold) Iowa for a little vacation / house hunting trip / turkey day, and today we were hanging out at my nephews house. Jake said a friend of his wanted me to draw a dinosaur eating a person, so I thought I’d doodle up a not-too-gruesome version for him. You never know, the guy might still escape?
With a sad heart, but a little bit of honest relief, I’m declaring a hiatus from the doodle blog (at least the daily requirement). With our upcoming move, house hunting, holidays, and the normal schmutz of life; I just don’t have the daily time to devote. I still plan to throw a doodle out when ever the mood strikes me, or on notable occasions. It’s been a great 1000 day ride, and I’ll get back on the horse some time early next year. Doodle on doodlers, I’m going to take a nap now…
I know a couple of guys who are STLs (can’t remember what that stands for) and they asked me to draw them a heroic logo. I thought this up as a simple start to see if the like it.
A few years back I drew some bulletin board decorations for our sons’ school, and they asked me to recreate them as they’d been misplaced. Of course I forgot to actually take a picture of them, so this is a little doodle showing how they fit around the board.
This was a request for a going away plaque they are making at work. The wanted to engrave a gnome caricature of the guy on the wood plaque between two emblems, leaning on one of them. When the saw the line work they asked me to color it so I’m not sure exactly what they are using it for now?
I just saw today that they are making a How To Train Your Dragon Christmas DVD, which I will definitely need to purchase, since I loved that movie so much. I’m very excited…
This one started out with two eyebrows, and just sort of became this… I like it.
I had to do this Icon/Logo thing for a rather nerdy subject and just couldn’t find a font I completely liked, so I decided to just make my own. This is a little sample sheet I printed up when I got all done. I’m sure it’s really similar to a whole slew of fonts I’ve seen and not seen before but I just built this one from scratch and liked how it came out.
One more Odosketch piece, this one of Kermit the frog from the Muppets. I’m really hopeful that the new movie will be successful enough to keep the Muppets alive and introduce them to the children of today, but not so wildly successful that the fools in Hollywood will ruin it with forced/inadequate sequels. http://sketch.odopod.com/sketches/476051
Yet another drawing site I have on my links page is Odosketch, which give you many more control options then SketchSwap, plus you’re able to go back and see the drawings whenever you want. http://sketch.odopod.com/sketches/476041
In the lamest form of “find inspiration in the world around you,” I decided to doodle some of the things that are usually in front of me whilst doodling. Yes that’s a protractor, so what? How else can I equally split up a shape into prefect angles?
Another SketchSwap.com doodle, not meant to look like a Care Bear, but sort of came out that way. The site gets a little sketchy if you draw you line “outside of the canvas” which caused the crazy line across the chest.
